Srinagar, Mar 01 (KNO): Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Langate, Sheikh Khursheed on Saturday said he would raise the issue of Article 370 abrogation and human rights violations during the budget session starting March 03. In an exclusive interview with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the legislator said that he would vociferously raise the issues of human rights violations, and abrogation of Article 370 in the House. “ I would draw the attention of the Assembly toward the killings of Makkhan Din in Kathua and Waseem Ahmed in Sopore, termination of employees and the plight of political prisoners,” he said. He said he has submitted a bill, which makes it mandatory for lawmakers and bureaucrats to enroll their children in government schools. He criticised mainstream parties for failing to implement this earlier. Khursheed said he has sought legislative intervention for banning alcohol and online gambling in Jammu and Kashmir. He stated that his party would only extend conditional support to a bill brought by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for allotment of land after reviewing its all aspects. He said there is a need for a thorough investigation into how state land was allocated in the past. “If we talk about Jammu, various regimes have allotted land to ministers, MLAs, and their relatives,” he said. Sheikh Khursheed also said that he would also highlight key issues confronting his Langate constituency On National Conference (NC) chief spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq’s remarks about statehood restoration, Khursheed accused the party of lacking a concrete strategy over it. “NC has no plan; they only want to enjoy protocol,” he said—(KNO)
